Intro to Suzuki is based on the Suzuki ideology, a parent or guardian must accompany students in classes throughout this Introductory session. Classes will be arranged by level of completed repertoire.
Auditions are not required for this camp. Students should have a minimum of 1-2 years of playing experience on their instrument, as well as familiarity with the Suzuki method or knowledge of Suzuki Book 1. Open to students ages 5-8 (as of July 1, 2024)

For Summer Strings Camp a parent or guardian will only be required to attend Intro to Suzuki classes with their child. Book 1, Book 2, and Chamber & Orchestra camp students will particpate on their own.

The Suzuki method is a specific approach to teaching instrumental music to young children, developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki of Japan. It is based on what Dr. Suzuki describes as the "mother tongue" process.

Special features of the Suzuki method are parental responsibility, encouragement, constant repetition and review, group and individual lessons. Unlike many traditional lessons, parents are required to attend all lessons and group classes with their child, and serve as the "home teacher" in between classes and lessons.
